Ford Taurus.... X
Friggin SUV Taurus.
So many questions... do they make an SHO version? Is it SHO...X? or X SHO?
Feel like all my life I’ve been living a lie.... oh wait... I have been living a lie.

I am so sad I will never know answers to my questions...
Like in terminator (I don’t know how many of the movies came out but say 10) in Terminator 10 ... would the cops jump into their ford taurus vehicles to go chase bad guys...? Would it be the sedan... or SUV?
Is it ford Taurus SHOX or ford taurus XSHO for SHO versions?
I see cops using ford taurus sedans nowadays... do they use taurus X at all?

3 hours? you gonna read more about it ... TODAY... you gonna be ok. Alternatively, pay for wifi on the plane and you will see it develop live-ish

I cross shopped these and the Freestyle before I bought my Forester. These were all much pricier for some reason.

My parents own an outback and those were notorious for head gasket issues. Do the subarus still have that issue? If so, could that be the reason they are cheaper?

My brother and his wife have one, and they love it. They are torn because it’s almost 12 years old and will need a replacement, but it hasn’t been made in years. They want nothing else but another TaureX.

No this does not affect the value of Subarus in New England. Also it is not an issues with all Subarus.

Cool. I would much rather own a subaru than a ford. I’ve been bitten by the ford snake a few times

The Ford Freestyle was the replacement for the Taurus station wagon when Ford dropped the Taurus name in place for the “Five Hundred.” When Ford went back to “Taurus” they changed the name from Freestyle to “Taurus X”
Hardly an SUV, It’s just a wagon.

i don’t think it’s an offroader or any sort of sporty utilitarian vehicle, but it has the size and shape of an suv. Would a crossover be more applicable? I don’t want to tarnish wagons with it.

I agree. Ford threw the “X” on it to try to market it as something more than a wagon (which is exactly what it was).

it was basically the inbetween for the Freestyle and the Flex, caught in a no mans land of not quite wagon not quite suv.

the flex is basically the updated version, and with the 3.5 ecoboost it MOVES!

Ford didn’t drop the Taurus name for “Five Hundred”. The Fusion was the new Taurus. As much as people hate to hear it, the Five Hundred was the replacement for the Crown Victoria (Ford kept making the Crown Vic for a few more years, but that was almost entirely for fleet sales). Then they brought back the Taurus name because no one was buying the Five Hundred, though of course no one bought the full-sized Taurus either.

The Ford Freestyle (and Alan Mulally’s last-ditch renaming here), Chrysler Pacfica, and Mercedes R-class are three good examples of decent vehicles that came out before the term “crossover” was even in widespread use.
Behold the power of marketing. Being ahead of the curve can suck (it doesn’t help that the Freestyle had a crappy CVT or that the other two became orphans of the Daimler shakeup)

Had the same reaction after seeing one a few years ago. I thought it was a weird badge swap at first, and didn’t get the joke.

‘some reason’
Third row.
V6.
Larger.
More ‘luxury’.

I had a freestyle which had the same body and interior but a different drivetrain. Interior holds tons of stuff. 3 rows, the third row being small but not awful. Second row could be a bench or captains chairs. My freestyle was pretty reliable except for when the A/C system Grenaded itself at 155,000 miles.

Will mention it to them. That’s definitely my segment of the market.
Though I do own a Touar-Eg.

There were no ecoboost engines available. All transmissions were auto. AWD was available and most of the cars produced were AWD.

Sooo... I saw your post this morning and thought “gee, maybe this could be a good wifecar- let’s check the list of Craigs... OMG, these are REALLY cheap!” So I found one at a shitty lot on the way home from work to check out... I like it A LOT! I’m still a ways off from buying anything, but this just got bumped to the top three with the last gen RAV4 (boring, but totally reliable and usable) and Mazda 5 (still haven’t found one close by to check out in person).

woooow! Just WOW.
Please remember that I am NOT an advocate for Ford vehicles. This post was not an endorsement or a solicitation.
I know nothing about them and thus was shocked to see one. That is all.
If you like it, better put a ring on it... but considering Ford couldn’t even come up with a different name for it, what’s the worst that could happen?
I want to see mustang SUV and Expedition coupe

I grew up a Ford guy, and currently own a Chevy, a Jeep and a Studebaker... That’s been my attitude towards Ford for a few years.
Don’t really care about a name... It’s of little consequence. The car has comfy seats, lots of head room for my tallness, and appears to have good reliability and safety. What more could I want in a cheap family car? :)
